The Missing Pumpkins

Written by Hannah Yorke Gambhir (then age 8)

Once upon a time there was a robber who loved to steal pumpkins.  The robber hid in some bushes and waited for people to put out the pumpkins they had carved.   When the people put them out the robber started to fill her garbage bags she had brought and she took them away to make pumpkin pies!

When the people came out the next morning they noticed that their pumpkins were gone.  Then some of the people went to Detective Hannah and her sidekick Madeleine.

“Help,” one person yelled.  “Our pumpkins have been stolen.  We need you to help find out who did it.”

“We will set out right now to search for the missing pumpkins,” said Hannah.

Hannah whispered to Madeleine, “Maybe we should talk to Farmer Matthew to see if he has seen anything weird happen.”

So they set off on their Mountain bikes through the woods to Matthew’s farm.

Hannah noticed that the pumpkin patch was empty.  Farmer Matthew came running out and shouted, “My pumpkins!  Where are my pumpkins?”

Farmer Matthew was glad to see Hannah and Madeleine because he needed help to find his missing pumpkins someone had stolen.

The next day Hannah and Madeleine noticed that a brand new bakery had opened.  They looked at the sign that read: Prunella’s Perfect Pumpkin Pies.  They went inside and saw over 100 pumpkin pies!

“I think that we found our first clue!” Hannah said excitedly.

Madeleine smiled and said “How do we know this is a clue until we taste the pies?!”

So they ordered two pumpkin pies and ate them both.

Then they called the police to arrest Prunella for stealing all the pumpkins.

The police arrested her and Farmer Matthew grew everyone new pumpkins for Halloween.
