A Lonely Witch

Written by Hannah Yorke Gambhir (then age 6)

Once upon a time there was a witch who was very lonely.  She did not have any friends.  She lived alone in a really BIG creepy house with lots of spider webs.

There was a ghost who was lonely, too.  He lived in a house made out of sheets.

And there was a skeleton that was also very lonely.  He lived in a rickety rackety kind of house.

One night it rained and rained and rained and the ghost’s house got so soggy that it fell down.  He needed a new house.

One night it blew and blew and blew and the skeleton’s house rattled so much that it fell down.  He needed a new house.

The next day the witch put a sign on her front lawn.  It said:

1 Lonely Witch with

2 Rooms for Rent

The skeleton knocked on the door.  When the witch answered he said, “My house fell down in a heap.  Can I live with you?”

The witch told him he could come and live in the BIG house.

The ghost could not knock on the door.  Instead he yelled “Boo!”  When the witch answered he said, “My house is all soggy.  Can I live with you?”

The witch told him he could come and live in the BIG house, too.

Now the witch and the ghost and the skeleton were happy.
