A Bat and the Pumpkin Patch

Written by Madeleine Yorke Gambhir (then age 5)

Moon
Bat

Once upon a time there was a bat, a pumpkin patch and a moon.

The bat wanted a pumpkin so he flew to the pumpkin patch.  But he got stuck in a spider web.  He pushed and pushed but could not get out.

The moon just stood there.  It did not bother to move.

So the bat had to keep pushing until he got out.

He flew to the pumpkin patch and tried to pull out a really BIG pumpkin.  It was too heavy for him to carry home.

A little pumpkin said, “You could take me home.  I am little.  I am not too heavy.”

So the bat took home the little pumpkin and made him into pumpkin pie.
