Madeleine and the GIANTS

Based on a true story.

Madeleine crawled into her parent’s bed and said, “I had a dream about a GIANT – and I did not like it!”

Her mom smiled and said, “Give that GIANT to me and I will put him in my pocket where he can’t bother you.”

And for the rest of the day that GIANT thrashed around in her mother’s pocket.

Again the next morning Madeleine said, “I had a dream about a GIANT – and I did not like it!”

Give that GIANT to me and I will put him in my other pocket where he can’t bother you,” her mother replied.

So Madeleine handed the GIANT to her mother.  Her mother stuffed the GIANT into her pocket where he crashed around for the rest of the day.

But each night Madeleine had a dream about a GIANT and soon her mother’s pockets were full.

“We will have to do something about the GIANTS,” said Madeleine’s mother.

“I know what GIANTS like more than they like me,” Madeleine answered.  “They like apple pie!  Maybe we could make a yummy apple pie for the GIANTS!”

“We might have a problem, though,” her mother cautioned.  “If the GIANTS hear that we are leaving out yummy pie for them, they might come every night.”

Madeleine thought about that.  Then she smiled and said, “I have a plan!”

After school that day they made apple pie for the GIANTS.  Here is the recipe that they used:

Lasagna Noodles, dried out carrots, lots of salt and pepper

A whole garlic (unpeeled), an onion top, orange peels

Two rotten potatoes, a turnip, a moldy piece of cheese

A squishy piece of zucchini (found way in the back of the fridge)

Spaghetti sauce, half a dill pickle, mustard, blue food colouring

And an old apple core

Mix all ingredients together and sprinkle with sugar.  Bake until bubbly.

Madeleine turned on the oven light and watched as her ‘apple pie’ bubble and cooked.  It looked and smelled awful.

“Just perfect!” Madeleine said.

That night, before crawling into bed, Madeleine placed the ‘apple pie’ by her window.  When the GIANTS came that night they ate the pie.

And after that, the GIANTS never, ever came back!
